Health Fair Outline

Health Fairs are an integral part of APA Health CARE's mission to serve the AAPI community and increase our clients' access to affordable, linguistically-appropriate healthcare.

Intake/Registration

• Securely register our clients before beginning client navigation process
• Record the client’s medical history and social history (ie. insurance status, English proficiency, education level)
  • ​​This is important so that medical students and nursing students can provide more effective and specific advice! 

Measurements

• We measure the client’s BMI, Body Fat%, Waist-to-Hip Ratio 
• Medical and nursing students measure the patient's blood pressure using a blood pressure cuff and a stethoscope

Consultations and Questions

• Medical and nursing students use the information we recorded to advise our clients under the guidance of the attending faculty (from David Geffen School of Medicine/UCLA School of Nursing 
• ​Our clients can ask any questions about their health at this time

Checkout

• We thank our clients and leave them with a resource folder with: 

1. Their measurements from the intake
2. Information provided during their consult 
3. Referrals to local low-cost/free clinics 
4. A health education packet with information on diseases common among the API populations and lifestyle tips

APA holds free health screenings and linguistically-tailored health seminars for the local community in an effort to make a lasting impact on our clients! Health fairs are a great way for APA and our collaborators to improve healthcare access and knowledge.
